Neston Harvest & Halloween Market

The emphasis this year will be towards a Harvest theme rather than Halloween.
The council are delighted to be joined again by Wirral Pomona Community Cider Making
Group who will be demonstrating their apple press and scratter. Visitors to the market
can bring their own surplus fruit, to use the presses and take away tasty fresh apple juice, please remember to
bring a clean empty container for this. They will also have lots of information about opportunities to
volunteer, and to learn about pruning and other orchard skills.
The group will be joined by volunteers from Brimstage Orchard, the Lees Lane Ponds Orchard and some other
Cheshire Orchards. They help to promote community orchards, tackle waste from surplus apples and encourage the retention and growing of the many local and historic varieties of apples. They aim to educate, pass on ideas and get people thinking about the environment, traditions and healthy food. They will also have some apple related produce for sale such as
chutneys, marmalades and also some carvings from orchard wood, but no cider on this occasion.

The council is also thrilled to be joined by Sunlight Bees who will have their observation hive, weather
permitting, and will have information on how to make a bee rescue station and how they harvest their honey
from their hives. You can even taste and buy their honey and honey products.
Why not take a break from shopping at the wide variety of stalls available, to enjoy a drink or a snack from one
of the mouthwatering food stalls? You will find an abundance of harvested fruit & veg, olives & olive oils plus, cakes, bread, pastries and pies made from harvested produce too. Don’t forget to stock up on treats for your Halloween parties!

And remember, there are also lots of non-food stalls on the market, everything from shoes & clothes
to toiletries, candles & plants.

There will be a Halloween themed stall joining the market for this special event too, ‘Enchanted Boos’ with their
unique handcrafted ghost figurines.
Children are invited to enter the FREE Scarecrow trail.
Entry forms will be available from the charity book stall and Neston Town Council will be providing a small prize
for all entries.
There will be lots of other FREE activities from 9 am too; Little Actors Theatre Company will be providing a Halloween Tattoo Station, funded by Neston Town Council. Join the team from Ness Gardens to create your own Autumn inspired
wreath, using natural materials gathered from within the gardens. Neston Town Council are also pleased to arrange FREE face painting for children. Halloween fancy dress is optional for the young and the young at heart, why not join in the fun!
