Phil says “The talk covers the convoluted history of the Wirral Colliery (to the North of Marshlands Road) through a number of eras, namely the “Anglican Smelting, Reduction and Coal Company Ltd.”, the “Neston Colliery”, the “Wirral Colliery” and finally “Wirral Colliery (1915)”.  It also covers the housing on the North side of Marshlands Road: the Colliery was involved in that after closure. It uses a wide variety of sources, from mining maps, period photographs, an oil painting, RAF aerial photographs & conveyances of local houses.”

He also stars in the film alongside Alan Cumming. It tells the story of two headstrong and estranged brothers, Sandy and Donal. Sandy (Brian Cox) is the chief of a hugely profitable family-owned whisky distillery. In poor health, he sends a letter to his brother asking him to come back from the USA for a visit, in the hope he might take over the business.
